I’m Marlene Fender, the proud owner of SageCreek Accounting And Tax.

After being told my job was getting downsized, I knew that I wanted to continue in the accounting field as I enjoyed what I was doing. So I decided to start a business of my own as I had previously helped others set up enterprises and witnessed the work-life flexibility it gave them.

I also felt confident that my thirty years of expertise in various sectors, including retail, government, and personal service, would give me the knowledge to succeed.

Since launching my accounting firm ten years ago, the industry has evolved significantly due to technology. I’ve gone from using paper to the new normal of electronic data.

On the one hand, it’s advantageous as data entry is more manageable and not as time-consuming as before. However, I miss the physical presence of meeting and greeting everyone with a smile.

Mind you, I still provide a compassionate ear for listening, and as an individual, I believe what sets me apart from others is my honest feedback. I also attribute my success to my loyalty and commitment to my clients, which results in most of them becoming my friends or good acquaintances.

I want to ensure my clients are happy with the services I render, so my philosophy is to guide their businesses towards a fruitful outcome with minimal costs.

In this endeavour, I’m constantly learning to become a better resource for my clients to cope with the demands of an ever-changing business environment. Therefore, it fills me with immense satisfaction when I can help them scale up.

When I’m not crunching numbers, I enjoy crafting, quilting, swimming, painting, fishing, camping, boating, and paddleboarding. I also love spending time with my family and like watching my grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. In addition, I support causes that take care of children and pets.
